Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is planning a 173,700 SF 5-story above grade and two-story underground parking addition. SCE performed an extensive subsurface exploration in the area of the proposed addition and provided a detailed geotechnical engineering report of the subsurface soils and water to assist in the design of the proposed addition. SCE coordinated all utility locating including soil vac truck exploration, all drilling operations and performed all required field and laboratory tests required for the project.
After completion of the addition, the Museum reached out to SCE to perform a geotechnical investigation on a proposed art storage facility beside the museum. SCE contracted directly with the Museum and provided a subsurface exploration and report for the proposed storage facility and parking lot. SCE coordinated with the museum staff to schedule borings when the parking lot was empty from ongoing Museum activities. SCE coordinated all utility marking, drilling operations and performed all required field and laboratory tests required for the project.
